Infineon Company Visit 2026

On 26 June 2026, EESTEC LC Aachen organised an exclusive lab visit to Infineon Technologies in Warstein for students from RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences. The excursion was coordinated by the two EESTEC board members Alexander Stanolov and Harnam Dhaliwal as a follow-up event to the EESTech Challenge 2026.

The journey from Aachen to Warstein turned out to be an adventure in itself. What was planned as a smooth trip of a few hours quickly became longer due to delays and complications with Deutsche Bahn. Missed connections and waiting times extended the travel duration significantly, testing the patience of the participants early in the day. In addition, the unusually high temperatures made the journey even more exhausting, with the summer heat accompanying the group throughout the entire trip.

Despite these challenges, the group arrived motivated and ready to explore Infineon’s facilities. After meeting many of the participants during the EESTech Challenge earlier this year, the visit provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen the connection between students and industry. It allowed the participants to experience first-hand how technologies discussed during their studies and the hackathon are developed, tested and applied in an industrial environment.

# Insights into Semiconductor Technology

During the visit, the participants took part in guided tours of Infineon’s reliability laboratory and prototype construction facilities. The tours offered valuable insights into the development, testing, and quality assurance of semiconductor components.

Infineon employees explained how products are tested under different environmental and operating conditions and how prototypes are developed before entering industrial production. The students were able to ask questions throughout the tours and gain a better understanding of the technical processes behind modern semiconductor solutions.

The programme also included a presentation on the Important Project of Common European Interest, better known as IPCEI. The session introduced the participants to current developments in the European semiconductor industry and highlighted the importance of technological innovation, resilient supply chains and collaboration across Europe.

# Direct Exchange with Infineon Employees

A central part of the visit was the speed networking session with Infineon engineers and employees from different departments. In smaller groups, the students had the opportunity to learn more about their daily work, current projects and personal career paths.

The direct conversations also provided information about potential opportunities at Infineon, including internships, working student positions, and bachelor’s & master’s theses, as well as full-time roles after graduation.

A dedicated career presentation further introduced Infineon as an employer and gave the participants practical insights into the application process and the different entry opportunities available to students and graduates.

# Connecting Academia and Industry

The excursion demonstrated the importance of connecting university education with practical industrial experience. Visits like this allow students to explore technical professions beyond the classroom, better understand possible career paths and establish valuable contacts with professionals in their fields of interest.

For EESTEC LC Aachen, the event also continued the successful long-term collaboration with Infineon Technologies following the EESTech Challenge 2026. Through both events, students were given the opportunity to work on technical challenges, expand their knowledge and engage directly with representatives from the semiconductor industry.
